Mark and Kathy have four children with one grandchild and have enjoyed living in the community of McNab/Braeside since 2005.
It takes a community to raise children and Mark has coached hockey, baseball, tennis and soccer in McNab/Braeside as well as in Arnprior and Renfrew. One of Mark’s favourite activities is exploring the value of soil with his wife Kathy. They have had a market garden at various times over the last 20 years, including a stand at the Burnstown and Arnprior Farmer’s Markets. They currently lease land to a cattle farmer and Mark regularly experiments with techniques on how to improve the pasture by increasing the organic matter in the soil.
A career small businessman, Mark understands the importance of supporting local small business for strengthening the community. Mark believes that giving back to the community which has nourished his family is an important way to contribute. Elected as a Councillor in McNab/Braeside from 2014 to 2018, he did not seek re-election in 2018 as he spent time on some entrepreneurial efforts.
With an appreciation for the outdoors, Mark enjoys tennis, pickleball, swimming, fishing, and other activities here in McNab/Braeside.
